How our virtual paediatric service works
Introduction
How we provide our services
Virtual Child Health is designed to fit around family life while keeping your child’s safety at the centre of everything we do. On this page, you can see exactly what happens from the moment you get in touch – from booking and onboarding, to your video consultation, prescriptions and follow up.
At a glance
Your child’s journey
- Book a Telehealth appointment by completing your onboarding form
- Join your secure video consultation
- Agree a plan, prescriptions and tests if needed
- Access records and follow-up care
Each step is simple, and we are here to support you throughout.

To start
Booking your Telehealth consultation
You can contact Virtual Child Health by phone, email or using our online form.
-
The form will ask a few brief questions about your child’s age and main concern.
-
If Telehealth is suitable, we’ll offer appointment times and send you a secure booking confirmation.
-
If we feel your child is better suited to urgent in-person care, we will advise you of this instead.
Your booking confirmation will include the payment information, date, time and secure video link for your consultation, plus any instructions to help you get set up.
The paperwork
Completing your onboarding form
As part of booking your appointment, please complete the onboarding form
This helps us to:
-
Understand your child’s medical history, medications and allergies.
-
Review any previous diagnoses or letters you may wish to share.
-
Focus the consultation on your main questions and concerns.
You only need to complete this form once. We will update it over time as your child grows and their needs change.

Online
Joining the video consultation
At your appointment time:
-
Click the secure link in your confirmation email or message.
-
Join the video call from a quiet, well-lit space where your child can be seen and heard.
-
A parent or legal guardian must be present for children under 16.
During the consultation, Dr Ikazoboh will:
-
Listen carefully to your concerns and your child’s symptoms.
-
Ask detailed questions about your child’s health and development.
-
Look at any photos, videos or documents you have shared.
-
Examine what is possible via video (for example, breathing, rashes, general appearance).
She will explain her thinking clearly and check that you understand each step.
Clear planning
Agreeing a plan, prescriptions and tests
At the end of the appointment, you will receive a clear plan. This may include:
-
Home care advice and “safety-netting” – what to do and what to watch for.
-
Follow-up appointment – if we need to review symptoms or test results.
-
Electronic prescriptions – if medication is needed and safe to prescribe via Telehealth.
-
Home delivery of medicines – arranged through partner pharmacies where available.
-
Blood or other tests – for example, tests for malaria or urinary tract infections, with guidance on how and where to arrange them.
-
Referral to secondary or tertiary specialists – when your child needs in-person or specialist assessment.
We will always be honest if a problem cannot safely be managed virtually and your child needs to be seen face to face or in an emergency department.
Here for you
Records and ongoing support
All consultations are documented in secure electronic medical records.
This means:
-
Your child’s history, plans and letters are kept in one organised place.
-
Future consultations are more efficient because we already know your background.
-
Over time, this supports continuity of care and safer decision-making.
If your child needs further appointments, we will arrange these with you and update the plan as things change.

Safe and secure
Your child’s privacy and data
We take your child’s privacy extremely seriously.
-
Video consultations are carried out using secure, encrypted platforms.
-
Information you share is treated in strict confidence and stored in line with medical and data-protection standards.
-
We only share information with other healthcare professionals when this is necessary for your child’s care and with your consent, unless we are legally required to do otherwise for safety reasons.
If you have any questions about how your child’s information is used, you are welcome to ask at any time.
